Wooden tables and low pendant lights in a quiet café dining room in the morning

Rivermill District · Est. 2016

Morrow
Coffee Co.

A neighborhood coffee bar for the slow part of the morning. Small batches, unhurried service, and a corner table that has been waiting for you since half past six.

The daily ritual

One street, one bar,
the same good cup.

We roast in small batches, dial the grinder three times before the door opens, and pour without a script. There is no loyalty app and no second location.

What there is: a bar built from a salvaged fir counter, a stack of mismatched cups, and a room that fills up every morning with the same neighbors in a slightly different order. Coffee is the excuse. The habit is the point.

Autumn Pours

Four drinks we build by hand from October through the first hard frost. Ask for any of them iced.

  • Amber Honey Latte — A barista finishing latte art in a white ceramic cup

    Amber Honey Latte

    $6.00

Wildflower honey stirred into espresso with a scrape of orange zest. Warm, floral, not sweet.

  • Toasted Barley Cortado — A small cortado glass casting a long shadow in hard morning sunlight

    Toasted Barley Cortado

    $5.50

House-roasted barley steeped into milk, cut with two shots. Nutty and faintly savory.

  • Black Fig Cold Brew — Cold brew poured over ice in a tall glass, milk swirling through it

    Black Fig Cold Brew

    $6.25

Eighteen-hour cold brew with a fig and vanilla cordial, poured over a single large cube.

  • Spiced Pear Chai — Spiced tea in an enamel cup surrounded by loose leaf and whole spices

    Spiced Pear Chai

    $5.75

Our chai concentrate with pear compote and a crack of black pepper. Steamed, never boiled.

Our story

It started with a
borrowed roaster.

In 2016 we rented the back half of a bicycle repair shop on Alder Street and put a five-kilo roaster where the workbench used to be. The plan was to sell beans. Then somebody asked if we could just make them a cup, and we never really stopped.

Ten years later the bikes are gone, the fir counter is worn pale in two places where elbows land, and we still buy from the same six farms — now by name, and mostly by handshake. We roast on Tuesdays, bake nothing ourselves, and are honest about both.

We are not trying to be anyone's third place, or a brand, or a chain. We would just like the coffee to be worth the walk.

In their words

  • I have written most of a dissertation at the second table from the window. Nobody has ever rushed me.

    Nadia F.

    Regular since 2021

  • The cortado is the best I have had outside of Lisbon, and the person making it remembers my name.

    Theo M.

    Alder Street neighbor

  • We started coming for the pastries. Now Saturday morning doesn't really start until we've been.
